Welcome to Clarion Desktop!

Monday, June 15th, 2009

Clarion Desktop is more than a website. It includes a program which Clarion Developers can install, in order to see the following..

  • All of your Clarion 3rdParty accessories!
  • Which versions of those accessories you are currently using!
  • Which of those accessories have newer versions available for you to download!

In addition to that, Clarion Desktop also displays..

Clarion Desktop 4.30 Available

Following on from the last post, we have just released Clarion Desktop 4.30.  While rebuilding the WordPress backend we’ve had to make several major internal changes, hence this release.

Clarion Desktop v5 – Coming soon!

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

We released Clarion Desktop version 4.25 a couple of days ago.  That seems to have well, and all outstanding issues seem to have been resolved.

This morning we rebuilt a major part of the Clarion Desktop RSS engine.  We’ll be testing that over the next few days, and will hopefully be signing up some exciting new contributors (more on this in a future post).

Once that’s done we’ll be doing some work on the Clarion Desktop cosmetics, and will then release version 5.0.  ETA is (hopefully) first thing next week!

New ClarionDesktop.com website!

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

We’re proud to reveal the brand new ClarionDesktop.com website!  Now powered by WordPress.

The old site was built with Drupal, which served us well.  But we’ve decided to move over to WordPress because it’s easier to maintain, it’s faster, easier to customize, feels slicker, has all the features that we need, and because raising the bar on the website fits in with the whole J-Walk campaign.

Or to put that into a shorter sentence, WordPress rocks.  It’s better than Drupal, Joomla, and quite possibly even water.

We’ll be tweaking and adding to the new site over the coming days, and plan to release the next version of Clarion Desktop on Friday.  Watch this site for details…

All Pro Licenses extended by 90 days!

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Continuing with our J-Walk campaign, and because we’ve now managed to track down and fix the issue which rendered Clarion Desktop unusable to many users for the past couple of weeks, we’ve extended all Pro Licenses by an additional 90 days!

All expired Pro Licenses were recently reactivated until 30 June, and all Pro Licenses have been extended by an additional 90 days!  So even if you bought a 3 month Pro License two years ago, you can now use Clarion Desktop Pro Edition until the end of September!  Hoorah!

Hopefully this makes up for any frustration which may have been caused during the blackout…

Clarion Desktop 4.24 Released

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Clarion Desktop version 4.24 has been released, and is available for download.  This build includes an internal workaround a NetTalk issue, and we’ve also optimized the code in several places.

J-Walk kicks off!

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Earlier this week we announced the launch of a new campaign called J-Walk.

J-Walk is a product bundle, but it’s also a structured approach to committing focused development time on each of our products, including Clarion Desktop.

We’re officially kicking off the J-Walk campaign next week Monday, and the first product we’re focussing on is Clarion Desktop!

To get the ball rolling, if you’ve bought a Professional Edition license at any point in the past which has since expired, we’ve gone ahead and reactivated your license until the end of June!  This gives you a chance to try out the new features which we’ll be working on during the J-Walk campaign…

Watch this space next week, things are about to get exciting…

Clarion Desktop 4.21 Released

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

Clarion Desktop 4.21 is available for download.  Last month we rebuilt the supplier area using CakePHP, and made several tweaks to the SQL backend in the process, version 4.21 of Clarion Desktop includes several internal tweaks to take advantage of these changes.

Clarion Desktop gets Cake!

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

As much as I initially enjoyed Ruby on Rails, when the Supplier area on Clarion Desktop went down for the 4th time recently, I decided it was time to look for something a bit more robust.

In the end I decided to rebuild the Supplier area of the website using CakePHP.

I downloaded Cake at 3pm today for the first time, and within 3 hours I’d learnt how to use it and built a fully functional supplier area!  But what impresses me even more than its ease of use is how simple it is to deploy.
